Mr. Brian Hansas
Hello, My name is Mr. Brian Hansas and I am excited to be working with you this school year. I have been involved with eductaion scince 1996. In 2012 I transferd into RPS205 as a Science teacher at Guilford High School. I was excited to establish the Guilford Bass Fishing Team and I continue to Coach and run the team there. I was very happy when the opportunity arose to transfer to the amazing team at Thurgood Marshall Gifted School where I will be teaching 8th Grade Gifted Science. I have really enjoyed my classes and students these past years and can't wait for this year. A little about me, I chose to work in a factory setting after high school, after several years of going nowhere, I realized that a college degree would have a major impact on my life. I pursued my new found passion for education, combined that with my love of nature & the outdoors and received my degree in Biology and Teaching. Followed by my Masters in Biological Science. My experiences help me to influence students on the importance of a good education. Learning is life long and should be fun, not just a job. I currently live in Rockton, IL with my wife Lyndsey, our three children Garret, Sadie & Owen, our new dog Tessa and two cats Siren & Pike.

Hobbies
I absolutely love the outdoors! Fishing is probably my biggest passion next to family. I try to make it up to Canada as often as possible to chase those trophy class fish up there. I am currently pursuing (a not so lucrative) pro-fishing career, fishing in the "Illinois Muskie Tournament Trail". Hunting, hiking, camping and canoeing are also frequently enjoyed. Keeping with my competitive nature, I toured the world for several years on a professional paintball team "Chicago Evil". The highlight of my paintball days was our first Pro Cup win in Toulouse, France on Independence Day. When I'm not running around enjoying nature and the outdoors I spend my time learning about it. Education has become quite a passion, you can never learn enough. I take great pride in sharing my enthusiasm for learning with my students.
